Obama Wallpaper for your Computer Desktop Background

Show your support for an Obama presidency, a filibuster-proof House and Senate, and the glorious reign of the Democratic National Committee with this Obama wallpaper for your computer desktop background. Desktop also includes Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid, just in case you’re wondering who those attractive three persons are.

Click on the wallpaper image above to see the full-size graphic. The one above is cropped a bit so that you can see some of the details before you click on it.

Yes, I did create this myself other than for the fundamental underlying artwork, which was taken from a Chinese propaganda image of Chairman Mao. I then added the red circle behind him, the rays, the halo effect, the DNC logos, the words “Get to Work”, and of course the heads of Obama, Schumer, Pelosi, and Reid. Took me about an hour or so.

Part of the credit goes to an unknown source. Years ago I saw someone else’s computer wallpaper that had a different Chinese propaganda poster with the same words “Get to Work” on them. I took the words but switched out the propaganda image for the one you see above, and have used it for years as my own wallpaper, to remind me to stop dilly-dallying and get my work done. But maybe if Obama gets elected the White House can issue this desktop background to the whole country. After all, we’re all going to have to work hard to support $4.3 trillion in new social programs for the other people who don’t feel like working, bless their hearts.

i’d rather work hard to help others than work to help corporations

one in five children lives in deep poverty, one might expect that a public effort to curtail welfare would focus on cutting big handouts to rich corporations, not small supports for poor individuals. But somehow the invocations of the need for stand-on-your-own-two-feet responsibility do not apply to large corporations.

That’s a false dichotomy. It’s not as though if you work for a corporation you can’t help others, or that if you want to help others that means you can’t work for a corporation. Corporations are the means by which jobs are created, and responsible members of a society would rather have a job whereby they can provide for themselves and maintain their dignity as opposed to receiving a handout.

That said, I agree that our government does too much for certain corporations and sometimes sends inconsistent messages. In a perfect world, I think the federal government would stay out of providing any sort of handout to either individuals or corporations. I think individuals are best helped by those closest to them (i.e. family, friends, churches, charitable organizations, etc.). I also believe when government steps in to provide what is normally done as a matter of charity that it discourages charity. I believe when the government helps corporations (however noble the intentions) it props up businesses that are poorly managed, thereby allowing bad businesses to survive, which makes it harder for good businesses to succeed. If businesses are run right they should be able to survive without government bailouts, and if they can’t survive without bailouts then they don’t deserve to exist and they should let a better business take their place.

You’ve got a good site going on here. That is an awesome graphic and it, unfortunately, represents more truth than I would like. I agree that it is best for everyone (individuals AND corporations) if the government stays out of everyone’s way and is as small as possible. Anything the government takes on (especially at the Federal level) becomes bloated, extremely inefficient, and bureaucratic.

We only need to take a look at how they have managed programs in the past (social security for example) to see what would happen if they take over healthcare and the “distribution of wealth” as President-Elect Obama calls it. You only need to compare the quality of our hospitals and doctors offices to those in other “nationalized” nations. If you have ever been to a hospital in France, you will know what I mean.

With that and a lumbering bureaucratic governing body on top who gets to decide when or IF you get to have a necessary operation, it makes me very nervous.

The real problem is people in our society have lost their morals. Honesty is weakness. Integrity is foolishness. Concern for others is the government’s problem… not mine. With that, comes consequences. One of which is that government has to step in to “protect” those who are being harmed or “disadvantaged”.

Take corporate America for an example. Because big corporate executives are being greedy and taking excessive compensation and benefits, it hurts the companies they work for and, ultimately, the lives of their employees. This leads to the employees and others complaining to the government. The government’s answer, of course, is going to be “legislate”. So more rules are added and more enforcement needs to happen and the government grows bigger and bigger. Someone has to pay for those people that work to enforce the rules and that someone is us, the tax payers.

Had corporate executives not been greedy, there would not have been the need for legislation and bigger government.

This applies to all facets of government.

If we, as tax payers, don’t want higher taxes and larger government, we need to be good, honest, hard-working people with a good work ethic and a genuine desire to help the poor and needy and encourage others to do the same. It should not be mandated of us by our government. It should come from our own initiative. Morals matter and if we don’t have them, our government will ultimately subject us to a form of bondage by higher taxes and lower quality of life.

Maybe I should get my own blog…

    Josh,

This sadly is closer to home than I’d like. B.O. will continue to sell the country’s problems as George Bush’s doing, and skate on through in 2012. The government never has been and never will be good at creating prosperity. The only thing capable of doing that is a corporation. Whether that corporation is a corporation of one, or a corporation of many, it will always have more raw resource generation capability than our beloved larger-than-life (or communist Russia) sized government. America is a great place to live, but her days and years as the America we know are numbered. Thanks for the graphic and a good laugh.

One in five children are happy to have those jobs. When the liberals shut down child labor in the third world, those kids end up in pornography or prostitution.
We need to stop exporting our morality.
Commerad Obama is telling every household what to do, except for GE, they are exempt.

  12. 12 Corwin, your Friend and Comrade Nov 1st, 2009 at 2:16 pm

My goodness, this is a real sad sight. You all must be out of your minds or unable to comprehend reality. I mean, I’m saying this and I’m a communist. I know for a fact that my idealistic views make me a little out of touch at times, but I admit it. However, these exagerations, this network liable is all so sad and almost leaning on pathetic. Not all of you who contributed on this very page, but a staggering many. I hurts to see my countrymen so poorly informed of the world around them.

Let’s start small with what I am trying to say here… “Obama is the New Hitler” is actually one of your names? For voting for the opposing democratic party (I’m only assuming “Obama…Hilter” voted Republican), they are now proclaimed a cult member? Has our democracy become nothing more than two parties of modern day witch hunters? This is horrendous! Your behavior is below barbarous… And to the “democratsarefascists” person, have you learned nothing of history? First off, to be very factual, the idealism behind facism is to be very open about your ideology and openly admit your facist ideals. Secondly, a fascist leader has unltimate dominion over the organizations that run the state. The fascist leader is the only diplomat, the first citizen and you will not see a wall that does not contain their image or name. Do not blur the lines between large federal government spending and fascism. And definitely, never get communism confused with facism. Such blatant ignorance is offensive. No wonder you don’t put your real names. I’d be ashamed to have people know who I was too, if I submitted the pure filth that some of you have.

Now, actually the United States does have some of the greatest government spending in the world for decades and this is a horrendous problem. We are trillions of dollars and debt to other nations, like the communist/authoritarian state of China (who grows as we flounder), and yet we cannot provide the simple public services and recognize the same human rights our superior modern nations can. To me, we must cut spending and I think this could be easily done with proper prioritization. Social welfare programs, for example, can be very cost effective. It really should not cost much at all, but when we stripped our nation’s public programs of their budgetting in the 80′s they became so ineffectual that many who live in public housing and are given a social pension find that their neglected housing is located near low-income jobs that are not designed to provide for adult necessities and that their pension is far too small to advance their position in the economy so they make due with what feeble living standards they have and live off their meager budgets, without many progressive prospects, until they die. The few success stories you hear about people getting out of the ghetto are 1 in 1,000,000 and unfortunately it doesn’t happen because they tried harder, but mostly because of coincidence or “luck”. Now on the other hand, our military spending has gone crazy and is putting our nation in danger, much like what happened to the Roman Empire and the Soviet Union (increasing income disparity also contributed to their collapse). Our defensive military is necessary, yes, but we currently still maintain bases and military forces that drain millions of dollars each and yet have not been put to use for decades. If we have better standing with other nations, this sort of spending is reckless and unnecessary to our defense.

Now you may debate me, you might dissagree with my politics and ideals, but no this: our government has basically gone unchanged since the 1960′s and Obama is no different than our past presidents other than he is a better speaker than is predicessor and encourages small growth in the direction of human rights, but he is not your problem. Until you address the greater issue at hand, you will find no change. Educate yourselves on the issues of our nation and on global history and you’ll be closer to the goals of a better government ideology. But, I’ve gotten off topic… Good day.

    My goodness,
Are you aware that being a declared communist in the U.S. is a federal crime after 1948!!!!!
Further, you are free to leave at any time.
Move to a “progressive nation” that shares your values, don’t try to export your beliefs and change a belief structure that is the best in the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The only part of that overlong screed that matters is the phrase, “I’m a communist.”

    None of the rest matters.

    Dear Friends,

    How are you doing.
Firstly, making it clear, I’m a Chinese.
But I don’t think I’m a communist or would be anyway.
I have to admit I don’t reade all your messages above.
I have been trying my best to learn English for many years, still I’m not quite good at English or the west culture. But I do think there are many great things out there.
I love English movies and TV shows, such as “God Father”, “Philadelphia”, “Forest Gump”, “The Graduate”, “Prison break”, “Desperate housewives”, “Lie to me”, “The prisoner”, “The Big Bang Theory”, even I’m watching “American Next Top Model” and “The X Factor”.

I think the United States’s people and other western countries’ people are famous for creativity and freedom speech.
So do tell me are there any laws define one guilty if he claim himself to be communist?
People might got into trouble by what they said?

I’m not sure how much you guys know about communism.

You have two parties in your county, which is not bad. People get their chances.
Take a scenario that if there are two or more parties in Chinese goverment, will make you feeling better?
What Chinese people should do to improve?
Anyway, do tell me what is the essential differences between so called “Capitalism” and “Communist”. I’m curious what’s your opinion going to be.

Sorry for my bad English, please kindly let me know if I have made mistakes in wording.

    Sincerely Yours
    Haigang Liu

PS. I want to add that, if you also approve that things needn’t only have only two aspects, such as “good”(white region) and “bad”(black region), is it possible a “no so good while not so bad”(gray region) exist?

PPS. I happen to be one of an Obama’s fans, I thinks he is an icon, who stands for hope and change.

Thanks for a refreshing “change” from the one-eyed lunacy dominating the O’Bama is God site. It is clearly the same kind of imagery that dominates in the totalitarian dictatorships. One of our great powers, through our freedom of speech and of the press, is the ability to make fun of, and to point out what otherwise might not be seen so clearly. For years the dems have done it. Turnabout is fair play. Nice art work.
